Introduction – Tongue Tie and Breastfeeding

After completing this introductory section, you will gain access to the video in which Dale Hansson presents how infant oral anatomy, in particular ankyloglossia, can cause disruption to the dyad breastfeeding relation. This course will detail the incidence and identification of any variation from normal, how these cause adaptions and/or compensations to feeding; will discuss specific and relevant management strategies, the methods of releasing frenula; describe the functional outcome and the impact on the infant; discuss strategies to support maintenance of breastfeeding before and after any intervention and how to facilitate decision-making for parents, including the discussion of potential risks and benefits..
